KidWind 2026 Celebration Picnic

This year, all five KidWind Makersmiths teams came home winners from the March 17 Northern Virginia Regional KidWind Challenge at the Potomac Science Center in Woodbridge, VA. All three wind teams came in first place in their grade level divisions, and the middle school solar team came in first place. The high school solar team came in second place. Based on their outstanding performances, all five teams qualified to compete at the KidWind-Virginia State Challenge on April 11 at James Madison University.  

Again, Makersmiths teams did outstandingly well at the KidWind Virginia State Challenge.  The Middle School solar team (called Error 404: Team Not Found) came in first place in their grade division and this win qualifies them to go on to the KidWind Worlds Challenge at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin on May 16-20. Other Makersmiths winning teams were the High School solar team (called Salamander 6) that tied for second place, the High School wind team (called the Cardinal Directions) came in third place, and the Middle School wind team (called Microsoft Wind Support) came in third place.

This picnic is to celebrate the teams' accomplishments, thank all the coaches, parents and other Makersmiths members who supported these teams this year.

Please meet at Dillions Woods Pavilion by the Tabernacle in Purcellville on Sunday May 3 from 4-8PM. Bring a dish or dessert to share. NO alcoholic beverages can be brought or consumed since children will be present (per Makersmiths' and the Town of Purcellville policies). Baked chicken, lemonade, water, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided.
