Let's turn a tea light candle holder on the lathe! Learn the safe operation and technique to turn a wooden blank on the lathe utilizing carbide tools into a candle holder. The following will be covered: - Mount a blank to the lathe via worm screws. - Carbide tool handling - Creating a mortise - Shaping the exterior design - Clearing the interior to hold the tea light candle - Sanding and finishing
This is not considered a Red Tool sign off class.
All materials and supplies will be provided including the tea light candle.
No prior experience required.
Must be at least 16 years old to participate.
Safety requirements: Wear closed-toed shoes, short sleeves, and eye protection (bring yours or use ours).
Optional (we have some you can use if needed): Hearing protection, particle filter, or dust mask.
We will meet in the woodturning shop at the Leesburg location.
