This BASIC basic welding class will not teach you how to weld. The class will give you the background information you need to operate safely in the welding shop, the basis for learning proper welding. You will learn:

  • How many turns are needed to open the Acetylene bottle.
  • How to adjust the flame on a rosebud.
  • How to use a cutting torch.
  • What do IG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW) mean?
  • How to shape or sharpen a TIG electrode (are they really radioactive?)
  • The kinds of shielding gasses and what they are used for.
  • What are puddle, flux, brazing, fumes, and heat barriers?
  • What protective gear should be used?
  • And many more basic basic topics.
