Horrified by the cost of replacement cabinets for your kitchen, looking to remodel your bathroom, or want to make the perfect home, hobby workspace? Rather than spend an outrageous amount of money on high quality cabinets, why not make them yourself? What, you say you don’t know how?
Well, here’s your chance to do a good turn for Makersmiths and fulfill your volunteer hours while learning how to make quality cabinets that will cost you a fraction of what you would have to pay for the same quality on the open market.
Starting Aug 18, Makersmiths will offer a hands-on cabinet-making workshop at Makersmiths Purcellville every Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 PM. During the first session, we will start with a brief presentation on measuring, design options, hardware, options, and where to buy materials. Then in the future work sessions, we will get our hands dirty and begin making new cabinets, which will eventually end up gracing the green room and providing some much-needed storage and organization cabinets, making the Green Room an attractive workspace!
Whether or not you need new cabinets right now, this will give you the opportunity to build your woodworking skills as you work with some of your Makersmiths friends and make up for a bit of that socialization that we all missed during the Covid period.
When you sign-up for this workshop, keep in mind this skills-building woodworking course will be held on five 3-hour work sessions on Sunday afternoons August 18, 25, Sept 1, 8 and 15 from 1PM to 4PM. Besides the time commitment, you must have completed BOTH the basic and advanced red tool training courses at Makersmiths-Purcellville in order to use the equipment.
This course is open to Makersmiths members. If you have not signed a waiver before, please go to https://waiver.fr/p-NVPOj to fill out the online waiver.
